The U.S. stock market is holding steadier Friday after an encouraging update on inflation helped calm a Wall Street that’s been wracked by worries about how artificial-intelligence technology may upend the business world.

Wall Street has come alive to the threat from AI to broad swaths of white-collar work, indiscriminately wiping billions of dollars off stocks in sectors from wealth managers to insurance brokers and property services.

A large rainbow Pride flag was raised again over the Stonewall National Monument after the Trump administration removed it earlier in the week. Supporters gathered in Manhattan, calling the reinstallation a stand against erasure and a reminder of the movement’s origins at Stonewall.
